FAQ

How is the system activated? Turning on the lights and/or body pack microphone will activate the system as well as the previous pre-recorded 30-60 seconds.

What's pre-recording? Pre-recording means the unit is always recording and keeping a (customer selected) 30-60 second loop of video. The pre-recorded video becomes part of the saved file when the lights and/or audio are activated.

How does it stop recording? When both the lights and audio are turned off.

Most systems have a "stop" button. Does yours? No. The sole purpose of a "stop" button is to give the officer discretion over when to use the video. This leads to numerous and obvious problems. The absence of a "stop" button means that your department will record and receive each and every video activated by the activation sequence.

How do the videos get to the server? Videos are securely transmitted wirelessly from the vehicle to a dedicated server via a building mounted antenna and wireless access point.

How do you tell it to start transmitting? It's automatic. Once the vehicle is in range, it begins to upload videos.

How fast do the videos transfer? While atmospheric conditions can play a role in the transmission speed, a full shift/system can generally complete transfer in about 15 - 20 minutes.

What if the officer leaves the station while the videos are being transferred? Until a video is completely transferred over, it stays on the in-car system. Once the car returns to the station, it begins transferring from where it left off.

How much recording time does each car have? Each car comes with 2 hours of recording time.

Is that enough time? For the majority of departments, yes. Vehicles at most departments return to the station at least once during a shift. Since the unit uploads video from the car every time it returns, recording space is freed-up for future videos.

Can I get more recording time? Yes. Memory can be added in two-hour increments.

What happens if the memory gets full? The system will not record over stored videos, which means the videos on the in-car memory are safe.

How Much Video Can We Store on The Server? Our servers are built to the unique needs of each client. The size of the server is based on the number of squads planned and the desired number of days of storage.

Will I Need an IT Staff to Run The Server? No. Most of our clients have no, or little IT support. We have designed the system to be very robust and user accessible.

Can I View Videos Over Our Network? Of Course! We offer complete viewing access to the server.

Are The Videos Secure - Can They Be Deleted? Yes the videos are secure. Clients are not able to selectively delete files. There is an automated & scheduled process that purges old videos and ensures that you always have the appropriate amount of available storage - critical videos can be "selected" to NEVER be deleted.

How Secure is the Wireless Network? AMR follows NIST (National Institute of Science and Technology) and IACP (International Association of Chiefs of Police) recommendations for wireless network security. The SSID (wireless network name) is not broadcast - without knowing the SSID, an outsider will not be able to even see the network. In addition, we use 128-bit WPA2 Access Point level authentication, require 128-bit unique user ID and password via a separate RADIUS authentication server, and require user specific log-in and password to upload data (videos) to the server. In short, it is very much like trying to call a person whose name you do not know, at a company whose name and phone number you don't know at an extension that you don't know either.

Why Do You Offer Two Different Wireless Frequencies? Every department has unique needs. Some departments in dense urban/suburban areas require the Public Safety 4.9GHz frequency for performance and security, while others that are less dense or more rural, perform perfectly with the traditional 2.4GHz standard.

How Do We Back Up The Server? The server can be backed up in a variety of ways. You can incrementally by burning the critical stops to DVD or CD media, or you can back the server up using a networked back-up storage device.

Do You Charge Per-Seat for Viewing Licensing? No. Your server has unlimited "viewing-seats" available.

Can We Burn a DVD to Play on the T.V. of Our Stops? Yes. It is a simple as the click of a mouse!

How Do I Know If The In-Car Units Are Working Correctly? Your server has an application that monitors the activity of the In-Car units. With a click of a mouse, you can find out the status of each of the In-Car units.

What are the warranties on your system? All limited warranties include advance replacement and are as follows: Recording unit: 3 years; Camera, audio unit and monitor: 1 year; Server and Software: 3 year limited warranty.

What is advance replacement? Advance replacement means in the unlikely event one of your components fails, you won't be without a working system for an extended period of time. Simply call us and if the problem cannot be troubleshot by phone, we will overnight you a loaner. Send back your broken component and we'll fix it on our time and our dime.

Are extended warranties available? Yes. Extended warranties for years two and three are: Camera, audio and monitor: $300/year per car; On-Site Server warranties begin as low as $389/year and increase depending on the size of the server.
